Where’s the characters from Scott Bakker’s Prince of Nothing series? Kellhus, guys. Kellhus.

  2. Eunuch says:

Is the most recent Wheel of Time book (The Gathering Storm) not canon or something? Because people seem to keep forgetting that Rand isn’t insane as of the end of the book. This is just a wee important, as he’ll no longer make free use of Balefire (rather doubtful he will at all), and he’ll be much more reticent to kill people/things that are not obvious creatures of shadow. And yes, while he is an unofficial blademaster, even he commented that the loss of his hand was a large blow since most of the sword techniques he uses require the use of both hands. He essentially has to relearn the sword.

  3. AHEM says:

Balefire is NOT Rand’s only weapon. Seriously, he isn’t just going to pull his best weapon at the start and have nothing back up. Does anyone have any idea of how many powers and abilities he has at his command? He can form wards around his body to protect him from all, throw fire and lightning, make the ground explode under his opponents, make his enemies’ heads pop, tear them apart, form lightsaber-type weaponry, etc.
Please, Suvudu, please please please stop acting like Rand is just a nutcase who has nothing but balefire. He has a lot of abilities and would make for some very interesting fights. He’s not nearly as mad or as weak as a lot of people are making him out to be.

  4. Endlessorrow says:

Bet he’s a snappy dresser and has a really big hog too right Ahem? Got a spot stained poster or two of Rand up on your wall my good man?
That said I call Hax on the Gandalf v Roland match. day 2 of voting 2am e.s.t. I WAS CHECKING IN TO VOTE AND NOTICED IN A 20 MINUTE TIME FRAME A 40 PONT SHIFT IN THE TALLY ON THAT MATCH.
    Holly Haxors Batman!
Not that G. should have won but, I know my one vote for Roland didn’t do the trick, as important as i beleive I am.

As a fan of most of the stories and series the contestants are from,I know there are many more characters that could or should have been included. My question is,where is Corwin of Amber? Paul Ma’Dib is another good choice. Maybe next time you could expand the field with suggestions from fans and readers alike, and continue the current format or have characters with like skills duel in the begining rounds and converge in the later ones.

  6. Taka says:

I find the definition of fanboyily amusing. I admit it can apply to certain people who just “CAN’T LET THEIR CHARACTER LOSE”. On the other hand I think it can just as easily apply to the people who actually examine the characters attributes and try to make a decision on who would kill who. If the cage matches were actually expected to be voted upon based on the attributes, certain things would have to happen to ensure the rules were uniform across the board. No assists from this person or that. All in all the whole contest would have to be scaled down tremendously.
Since that is not the case however; and anyone can make an argument for any character no matter how fantastical a scenario it is, it is only to be expected that the contest would turn into one of popularity and fanboys. Those who cling to the original vision of the contest and who complain about fanboys are the ones that i would say are taking the cage matches “way too seriously”. In the competition I vote for whichever character I like best. I don’t care what universe ending powers they have.

  7. Scott says:

I think it would be interesting to do a Dark Lord cagematch. Put Sauron up against Voldemort or Palpatine or Takhisis or the White Witch etc. and see what happens. Hell, could even throw Cthulhu in there again…

  8. SigTauGimp says:

A bunch of the Roland fans actually came from thedarktower.com…I’m a member there, with the name SigTauGimp(Same as the name I comment with on Suvudu :P ) I posted a comment in one of the forum threads mentioning the cage match, and tried to rally the troops, so to speak. :D
That is at least part of the explanation for the comeback. :D

  10. LMN says:

Can I just ask who suggested putting Ged in the cage match when they haven’t read the book? May I also suggest that you endeavour to do so immeadiately, because it is really good. Also, I support Scott’s idea of a Dark Lord death match. that would be even better. And then the winner of the Good Guys cage comp could take on the Villains cage comp, and it could be twice as epic.
keep it up guys, this is awesome!

  11. Sargazm says:

WHAT THE!? “WHITE TOWER” treachery!! Those women had to interfere with that match!! Conan’s axe would’ve split Rand’s head before he was halfway through one of his Asha’man’s gates too the match. It would have been from 50 paces Too!! Yeah like Conan would just stand there as Rand forms his Balefire…. Rand head would have been Pulp!! “WHITE TOWER” treachery!!
